TornadoMktg.com’s B2B Small Business Marketing Strategies

Tornado Marketing Blog

Thanks for stopping by to share your hot ideas (and hot air) about how small businesses can create affordable, effective marketing systems.

Customers are overwhelmed with options.  In the end. it seems like some of them just throw up their hands and pick a provider at random.   But there is a way to stand out from the crowd.  You can create brilliant small business marketing - that’s affordable too!

I picked a roofer once because (1) he was the only Mission Viejo, CA roofer I could find on the web at the time, and (2) he instilled confidence in me in a very unique, low cost way.

How?  He took a digital camera up to the roof, and photographed the “trouble spots.”  He then came down, plugged the camera into his laptop, explained to me how much it would cost to repair the water damage that would soon be inevitable, and gave me a reasonable quote to fix the problem.   I signed on the spot.  He then photographed the “after shot” and as I wrote his check, he asked for referrals and a reference.  You bet!  It’s three years later and I’m still raving about his simple, sophisticated and AFFORDABLE approach to small business marketing.

How about you?  Have you been wowed by any simple, affordable, and effective small business marketing?  I’d love to hear your great ideas!

  1. I built a $15M company in 4.5 years helping a client to use digital photography and provided tools on-line for his customers to make decisions before they ever met the client. His base was $300K in 4.5 years he was doing $5M. We also did a time lapse video of their installation work. A patio in 60 seconds. We also used testimonial videos of past clients to rave about the company. Especially, a ten-year client who was still happy with the work, many years later.

On the photography. I would have the sales team take photos of the job and include them in the file. It gave the business owner insights into the details and the crews knew exactly what needed to be done. We installed paver driveways and patios. Lot’s of details when doing this type of major construction. Great post!
